ADAPTARE intends to attract people with interests in
photography, science, sustainability and any form of
nature. I believe communicating science and getting
people closer to nature can have an impact by summing
together individual actions to make a difference.
Throughout this issue you will travel from the age of
dinosaurs to the present day, to realise they are still alive,
immerse yourself in the microscopic world of colour, travel
to the heart of Nottingham to see its incredible urban
wildlife, learn how you can help the planet through fashion
consciousness, and discuss the pros and cons of having
animals in captivity.

I hope the content of this magazine not only entertains,
but also plants a seed of change (even if a tiny one) that
could push society to care more about our planet and the
creatures in it. The global COVID pandemic, as many
other emerging infectious diseases, is a result of human
exploitation of natural resources. It has been a wake up
call: we must develop a more sustainable lifestyle, one
that allows humans to peacefully coexist with nature. The
unbalance we have generated is changing the
environment so quickly, that species are not having the
time to adapt, and will end up in the sixth mass extinction
if we don’t do anything to stop it. This is my small
contribution, hopefully not too naive, to show that we
CAN stop it. Change starts through each one of us. I can
say this magazine has been part of my own.
